The typically modern dietary imbalance among macronutrients leads to metabolic derangement of glucose and lipid disposal such as dyslipidemia, increased insulin resistance, and fatty liver, which are increasingly widespread all over the world and represent some of the characteristic features of the metabolic syndrome. Dietary fatty acids regulate several physiological functions, however, they have to be present in the diet in an optimal balance in order to exert their properties. Particular attention has been focused on n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and n-6/n-3 ratio, influenced by their dietary intake.

The Association Between Socioeconomic, Demographic, Serum Vitamin A, Serum Carotenoids and all-Cause Mortality of Adults

Vitamin A is a group of micronutrients that has important physiologic functions and has been found to be deficient in south pacific [1]. Its deficiency has a significant effect on child mortality. Carotenoids have been found to be associated with lower adult mortality. Mechanistically, blood vitamins and carotenoids are thought to be mediated by lowering inflammatory molecules. In particular, carotenoids were found to interact with other micronutrients leading to their overall effects on mortality. The interaction between socio-economic factors and serum carotenoid levels on mortality has not been investigated fully.

The Relative Importance of Biomarkers for Body Iron Storage and Socio- Demographic Factors on all-Cause Mortality of Adults

Too high or too low body iron storage status has been linked to cardiovascular health and all cause mortality. Iron deficiency found in developing countries was associated with higher mortality risk. Iron deficiency was also associated with community dwelling adults and self reported heart failure. High body iron storage status has been associated with associated with increased risk myocardial infarction secondary to increased lipid oxidation. Iron storage in body was linked to higher cancer risk because it was a micronutrient need for tumor growth
